Rhythmic Fire and Santerias turned up summer's heat Thursday for the OntarioPlace / TelelatinoNetwork First Salsa In Toronto media launch at Ontario Place.
Ontario's Tourism Minister Peter Fonseca noted that Toronto's Salsa on Saint Clair's since 2005 brought over 750,000 visitors to Saint Clair Avenue West - and to Toronto. Fonseca continued, "Salsa in toronto has danced its way into the hearts of thousands of visitors across Ontario and we're excited abougt supporting its growth by providing $15,000 to market the event to new audiences in Montreal."
Onhtario Place General Manager John Tracogna said, "We are very pleased to be working with TeleLatino Network and the Government of Ontario to help expand this amazing tourist event and to bring a hot night of Salsa to Ontario Place."
TeleLatinoNetwork President Aldo Di Felice exclaimed, "We are excited to join forces with Ontario Place, one of Canada's internationally acclaimed cultural parks to make Canada's most successfun Latino Street Festival even bigger!"
Salsa in Toronto and Salsa on Saint Clair includes street vendors selling food. There is live music, free street dancing and lessons and the best crowd scene in Toronto. And there is even a Salsa competition at Ontario Place Thursday 10 July.

Rules & Format
Preliminary round - amateur couples will dance freestyle in heats of 3-5 couples for 2 minutes to music preselected by the DJ and competition co-ordinator. Judges will determine top 5 couples to advance to final round. Process will be repeated with the semi-pro couples.
Final round - each couple will dance salsa freestyle for 1:30 minutes to music preselected by the competition co-ordinator/DJ. Each couple will be scored by the panel of judges. Top 5 amateur couples will compete first, then the top 5 semi-pro couples. Winners will be announced that evening.

You are in the amateur category if:
Neither competitor has performed,
Neither competitor has ever taught salsa,
Neither is or has been a member of a salsa dance company.
Semi-Professional
You are in the semi-pro category if:
One, or both of you, has performed without being paid,
One, or both of you, has taught a class or assisted a salsa instructor without being paid,
One, or both of you, is or has been part of a salsa dance company but has not been paid for performing.
